If Dune and Shawshank Redemption met in the frozen tundra, this epic adventure would be the result.
Asbjorn Cristelson is a young, gifted military officer, but he already has a blot on his record. During his first commission he was overly confident, pressing forward into a winter storm when he should have waited and because of him, a new recruit died. But now, his gifts are shining through, with a fantastic discovery that can keep his soldiers warm in the worst of winter conditions in the far North. In his Nordic Kingdom, honor is paramount, and his discovery, along with the military victories it brings, covers over his past failures in the eyes of his countryman and his older brother Godoedin, the general and soon-to-be king. But despite the affirmation of the populace, Asbjorn is faced with one person that can’t forgive him- Himself.
To make matters worse, Asbjorn and Godoedin are invited to a fraudulent peace summit, a trap by the cunning King Tye of the Yefola Empire, who is determined to destabilize their Northern neighbors before the discoveries of Asbjorn expand that kingdom further. Godoedin, the thick, strong, red-bearded older brother, is overly confident about his kingdom’s position, and hungry for the accolades and cultural experiences offered to him in the South, creating a deepening rift with his brother. The rift will become a deep tear as the brothers are betrayed at the peace summit and subjected to separate imprisonments, and separate strategies to weaken them according to their own personalities.
Will the brothers break under the weight of an icy imprisonment? Will their friendship rip if one of them succumbs to the oppressor’s demands? Asbjorn will be forced to face his deep failures in periods of isolation. But also, his sufferings will push him toward a spirited group of convicts named the Cellar Crew. One of them, the attractive and faith-filled Noelani, demonstrates an astonishing loyalty to her friend. Can such things heal a person? The answer will be told while climbing adventurous white mountains, risking daring prison escapes, and sailing the seas in a heroic naval battle. Not everyone will make it out alive, but those that do, will be fashioned in strength.
